To perhaps keep with the theme of my previous post - a little romance, a little intimacy - I had to share one of the MANY phenomenal scenes from McCabe & Mrs. Miller. This movie, from beginning to end, from cinematography to writing, from performances to set design, from direction to hair/makeup/costume design is near perfect in my eyes.
I’m a sucker for a Western. I’m also a sucker for a facial hair clad Warren Beatty. Foo, you got me. I’m a sucker for an anything Warren Beatty. Dude was (and probably still is) a stud.
I love this scene so much because it’s an intimate personal moment that tells you everything about who he is as a character, fully displaying his vulnerability and what he really wants. Mrs. Miller. I’m warm and fuzzy all over when I see this scene. Another one of my favorite moments is when McCabe is putting money in Mrs. Miller’s wooden box on her dresser to pay for her “services,” all while she giddily hides under the covers, only showing us those beautifully expressive Julie Christie eyes.
I can only wish that my future great love accidentally butt dials me when he’s alone gushing over how he’s only ever wanted to make me smile. A girl can certainly dream…
